Do you know how long I've been in here saying these things and not one person has brought forth these verses. One must conclude that the Bible reading is at an all time low or everyone in here just got saved :-} Now I should not have said no one brought forth these verses because I have brought forth 2Peter 3:9 to prove exactly opposite of what you think it teaches. Look at what you HIGHLIGHTED RE>>The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Your belief is that when the verse says ANY and ALL That it means any man on earth and ALL MEN on EARTH Well Alan ... you are in the majority in thinking that is what is being said but you are wrong. The verse is not teaching that God is waiting longer and longer for Jesus to come back so that ALL MEN will get saved... think about it.. the longer Jesus stays away will not change the proportion of saved people to the damned people.. If Jesus never came back would that cause the world to produce more saved people ?? I highlight for you This:longsuffering to usward, === The verse teaches about the second coming === Look at the subject... it is about Jesus being "slack" concerning His promise. 2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. Here Peter explains that men will start to scoff at the second coming and the Judgement of GOD. Because Jesus comes back in Wrath yet men refuse to repent.... Here he points out that they are foolish because they are willfully Ignorant and not just ignorant Look: 2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: Here Peter shows that GOD destroyed the WHOLE WORLD Except for His elect even a remnant of only eight souls. Noah being the eighth person and the number of circumcision the eighth day even the Lord's Day. 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 ¶ But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Here Peter shows that God is not pressed by any time frame and indeed that God's main concern is not the punishment of the wicked. The wicked will be punish and God know well how to keep them unto that day and His timing. As it is written: Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. What is Peter talking about... How men scoff at how long it has been and how it will never happen because the world has never seen such things since the beginning of creation... They have no excuse because God has already shown Himself a God of Vengeance and WRATH in the FLOOD ! Rather however GOD is LONGSUFFERING which is a quality of LOVE ! 1.So then Peter says God is not SLACK 2. God is Love ( longsuffering ) to US 3. God is Wrath and Judgement on THEM ( the ungodly ) 4. God is waiting to destroy the wicked fo He is busy being.... ==== longsuffering to USWARD ==== Not themward ! The Bible is written to US and FOR US. The Bible is written to THEM against THEM. If you want this verse to say that God is longsufferring to everyone then your god is silly. Can't he see how many people are slipping into hell on a daily bases ??? Why not stop the world right now... Does he not have enough saved souls ??? Hell is forever !! No rather Jesus will come Back when the last SHEEP (usward) has been Found ! Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. God has blinded Israel his chosen nation (general ) until his Chosen Gentiles (specific) are brought in... then will God open Israels eyes. Getting long.. next message.
