wayne,

""The last estimate I heard was a potential liability of 200 billion""""

Why don't we just call it the National Lawyer's Endowment Fund. As long as the taxpayers keep paying the Indian and Northern Affairs legal bills, and without any limits or constraints, there will never be a settlement. Dentists have had a pretty good feed at this trough too. There are more native Canadians with gold crowns that in the entire non-native population. We paid for them all. Maybe we need to elect a government who will just stand up and say that the last cheque is in the mail...there will be no more and good luck to you all.

regards,
teevee

I had some native friends who used to complain that we cheated them by buying land for a barrel of molasses .

100 years from now they will be saying we cheated them with pieces of paper with some picture of a relinquished monarch on it.

If they are so concerned about their land why is it that the ones who get a settlement buy everything BUT LAND !

It may be more of a case of " the world owes me a living "

Nice 'work' if you can get it :-}
