Very neat Coolsheet. Thanks for the tip. The SBVC site seems a bit constipated. They will no doubt fix it.

Softbank Mulling Buying Bank To Launch Banking Operations

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Softbank Corp. (9984), a Japanese Internet conglomerate, is mulling the possibility of acquiring a bank whose existing banking license would help Softbank launch Internet-based banking operations, the company said Friday.

Softbank Finance Corp. President Yoshitaka Kitao said last month the financial service division of the Softbank group aims to establish an online bank following a similar plan by the team of Sakura Bank Ltd. (8314) and Fujitsu Ltd. (6702). Kitao did not give further details on this plan at the time.

Softbank plans to spend one to two years at the most to become an all-round provider of financial services through the Internet, including banking operations, a Softbank Finance spokesman said Friday.

Softbank, however, is not studying the reported plan to bid for nationalized Nippon Credit Bank, the spokesman said.

Softbank currently offers loan information and loan brokerage services through E-Loan Japan K.K., a joint venture set up in May between Softbank Finance and U.S. E-Loan Inc.

If it buys an existing bank, Softbank would offer direct banking services, targeting such borrowers as venture firms, the spokesman said.
