"Going forward" will never cease to be used. It is an empty, meaningless phrase that analysts and teleprompter-reading reporters use when they need to fill air-time, can't think of anything else to say, need to buttress poorly researched material, or--most importantly--want to make a distinction from "going backwards." It epitomizes perfectly the lack of original thought displayed by both Wall Street hacks and amateur, inexperienced financial news reporters.
