"Going forward" will never cease to be used. It is an empty, meaningless phrase that analysts and teleprompter-reading reporters use when they need to fill air-time, can't think of anything else to say, need to buttress poorly researched material, or--most importantly--want to make a distinction from "going backwards."

It epitomizes perfectly the lack of original thought displayed by both Wall Street hacks and amateur, inexperienced financial news reporters.

"Going forward" is incredibly overused, and Maria "Bart" is one of those who can't seem to live without that term being repeated like a mantra...
Going forward this! Going forward that! Going forward everywhere!!! I'm going to go "insane" if I hear it one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
