"The ancient Egyptians invented rudimentary steam engines, and all they ever amounted to were curios."

Source Please???? I have travelled all over Egypt and never
have I seen or heard of anything resembling any type of machine, either in their History or their artifacts ???? They did
magnificent things but that is not one of them. Archeologists have never come up with anything resembling such.;-)

Mike..I worked on an IBM CICS system on a Mainframe in 1970,
The largest system in the world at the time..Hallmatk Cards ! ! !
Every Hallmark Card Shop in the world was fully computerized
in the 70's. Their Computer Complex filled an entire City Block in Kansas City..I worked in Connecticut which was connected..
The pioneering of the Computer happened back in the 40's in this country..If you want to research its History, you have to start with the Abacus is ancient China..then the Germans took it from there..Time Life Published a very useful Computer Encyclopedia
beginning in the 70's..your generation will take its place in History as the Movers and Shakers of the PC World...;-)

PS. The language at that time was Cobal which has been very useful in the repair of the Y2K problems..;-)
