Colleen.. Don't get too uptight about people arguing. It is in fact not a bad thing. It is like money... It can be used for Good or used for bad. Arguing can become bad when people just hurl insults at each other. However I believe that arguing , debating, and contending are very valid way that men learn. I much prefer a debate format to that of sitting "UNDER" someones teaching where no one else is even allowed to talk. Preaching in corporate worship excluded. I have been at BIble studies where no one was supposed to "interupt" the great teacher blah blah.. So you end up spoon fed the party line and often it is a line and a load ! I see a different method in scripture and in the settings of Christ. The Sermon on the Mount ! Jesus speaks and men listened. It was as a speech . Acts 25:25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, - Paul is 'reasoning' this infers feed back ! Math 23:23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, 24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and ETC.ETC. This is a public Debate... The teachers thought they would ask a trick question that disproved the resurrection.. It was likely one of there favourite arguments and had likely worked with many of those who were converted to their false beliefs. Jesus easily answers it and likely convinced many of those who had believe there was no resurrection that there indeed was. The Sadducees were a very large group of people at that time this was a real blow to their false beliefs. Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints Contend is like a contender in a boxing match :-} in this corner B.V. :-} While we are called to fight the good fight and to keep the faith. Fighting can be BAD,,, I have fallen into this and it is easy to take these matters personally at times. I would that you pray that I do not render evil for evil or railing for railing. As it is written: 2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, Patient... not losing it ! Patience is a gift of the Spirit. It is also to be given to those who are worthy. Dogs and Devil deserve none of it! I will not tolerate the wicked with unmerited kindness. Kindness is a Pearl of the Spirit and not to be cast to dogs. It would help however if we all had uniforms :-} God has shown me that you and Nancy are both praying about the thread.
