Gary, we did not "cross paths". As much as we may agree on things in general, we are in disagreement on the specifics.

If you measure memory by "battery life", with DRAM you are talking HOURS, perhaps DAYS. If you crank up DRAM with a hefty battery backup supply, you can reach out as far as 5-10 years. A decade from now, DRAM may well offer a "century" lifespan.

If you measure battery life by "flash" standards as of today, you are usually talking decades. So -- when it comes to internal memory for cameras -- it isn't hard to see how flash beats DRAM. Unfortunately, advances in DRAM may make flash obsolete for all the same reasons.

SNDK longs are well-advised that they are betting that the status quo will remain and that there will NOT be a "technological advance" any time soon that renders the "flash memory" category obsolete.
