Elmer - RE: "Well then that brings us back to the previous point. One site is bare dirt growing weeds, by choice, and the other one has had $1.5 Billion spent on it to try and produce semiconductor wafers. Neither one seems to be producing those wafers and you don't think their conditions should be described in different terms! I do. I see a major difference between unproductive dirt clods and a completed, fitted out, fully equipped Fab plant which still is no more productive than Intel's dirt clods. If you think the term "delayed" is equally accurate in capturing the current status of both sites then we have a major disconnect here on how we perceive reality."

Elmer, we are obviously talking about two different things. You keep comparing Dresden to the future Fab 16 while I have not up to this point.

The way I see it, the proper term to describe both is they have both been POSTPONED/DELAYED, but in two completely different, bipolar ways.

Fab 16's construction has been delayed/postponed and Dresden's production has been delayed/postponed.

Can we agree on that last statement?

Delayed or postponed.....I really don't want to get into that argument. However what's important to note is the miscalculation on the part of intc. Given the current shortage of fab space, by not proceeding with the Fort Worth fab, there will be a definite impact on future profits.

You might not be satisfied with AMD's scheduling but at least they recognized that there might a shortage and went ahead with development. Now it may play an important role in their future profitability.
