This might be confusing for those looking for additional SANbox info:

markiiisys.com

"Come and play in the SANbox"

markiiisys.com

An IBM reseller using the same designation and having the name Mark III systems. Direct links to IBM storage and their FC switch.

Nice design work on the ease of moving to higher port density. Maybe that is the roadmap that some
customers alluded to? Seems like all these data center that will have thousands of servers could use this high port switch?
Open Q) Up till now I thought directors like Mcdata, Inrange, CMNT were mainly for big iron mainframes......do I have it wrong....where is ANCR going to point this product? Slightly confused because they are calling it a director.

>>The SANbox 16/128 Fibre Channel Director... has hot-swappable 8-port plug-in modules that can be increased to 64 ports<<

Each plug-in module can have 8 or 64 ports. (2) modules for 16 ports (available now) or (2) 64 port modules for 128 ports (available 1Q 2000). I think the 64 port module will have the 16 port ASIC (4 ASICs per). A competitor or replacement for the Connectrix?

Plus, there is a new Ancor ASIC for the cross-connect.

Notice that none of the new Brocade switches are available now, but they're announcing anyways. What's the rush? <G> Wonder if they've even completed beta?

This looks like a solid headstart for Ancor. Leapfrog, anyone?
