re: "agreement to lease"

i contended a while back that the best situation between aol/athm/t and the rest of the cable operators is an alliance as you aptly put it via lease agreements. free access not really "free",it will benefit athm and the cable operators, as it will create these very leases. the question is will the isps be able to absorb the "lease" or pass it along to the subscriber. the "ma and pa" isp, without significant content will fall by the wayside with "free" access. aol however, with its cult like following and large subscriber base is best position to deal with its base and use its marketing prowess to convince the subscriber that speed will equate to higher cost. to be able to bundle aol with athm/cable will benefit all.......even the "bastard child" excite may play into the grand scheme if launched through aol, for those subscribers who want to venture beyond the aol "community"....

it's bound to happen........"free access" = "consolidation of players" = "increased infrastructure investment"......not my words, but those of chambers and grove when queried on broadband buildout in an interview with charlie rose....
