Tenth heaviest Nasdaq trading day:

biz.yahoo.com

``Total volume was about 1.24 billion -- the tenth heaviest trading day in Nasdaq history. Advancing issues easily outpaced decliners by a 14-8 margin, with 139 stocks rising to new highs, and 127 hitting new lows.

``It was a big day. Big volume,' said Peter Coolidge, senior equity trader at Brean Murray & Co.``

Gary, it seems the Reuters article got the Nasdaq volume wrong. It was 1.44 Billion (as you posted), not 1.24 B as stated by Reuters (they're always getting things backwards). Smooth sailing for NITE next week perhaps.
