Vodafone Globalstar will launch a digital mobile satellite service in Australia in the second quarter next year as part of the phased roll-out of the business around the world. The company made its first test call in Australia yesterday between two employees in Dubbo via Globalstar's satellite network. Four more satelllites were launched on October 18, taking the number in orbit to 44 (from Oct. 30th,1999 issue)

ccryder, I've been thinking along similar lines, that the roll out can't really begin until this recently launched group of satellites is raised into orbit and ready to go. Can't start with spotty coverage.

So here's the question to the board. When are/were the recently launched satellites raised into orbit, tested, and ready to go? Just when is the constellation really capable of full service? Before November 15?
