jeff, a lovely glimpse of the local color... thanks for taking the time to tell me about it... sounds quite interesting... i have not been to south america... but the hours you describe are very much like the hours in mediterranean countries i have visited...

traffic sounds just like bangkok. the road will have 4 lanes and when the tuk tuk's and motorbikes have finished infilling you have 7 or 8 lanes. no one ever gets mad they just drive. in the country i never saw any speed limits and the tour guys drive about 90 mph and keep talking to you without much care about the road. the scary thing there is that pedestrians have no right of way and the traffic drives on the left side of the road. we made sure that we crossed with locals whenever we could until we got the hang of it
