Doug, thank you much for the links! I ran the browser test and my IE5 was fine. I recommend the test. It is non- invasive [nothing downloaded] and the explanations are confidence inspiring. Gottfried

hey doug, i missed this post of yours somehow. didn't see it until gottfried replied. maybe it got 'caught in the switches' when i cleared messages? anyway, thanks for the good link. i ran the short test on my browser and began reading through the emailed results. i closed it all up for to tend to some other things, but i fully intend to come back. and i also want to run the more extensive 'professional' version. good analogy with the barnacles, btw. :) mark
