Hi Jim McMannis; The odds of Intel completely dumping Rambus are slim, at least in the next 3 months. What they are likely to do instead, is start supporting alternative technologies.

Right now, the Rambus folks are joyous over a press release announcing that Intel is again suing Via. If this is the case, and I don't see why it should be fake, it is incredibly wonderful news for AMD, as Via was providing the best solution for use with Intel's processors.

Intel also is supposedly going to keep making BX chips through all next year! I really can't believe how good all these things are for AMD. Total crack up at the industry giant. It appears that the left hand at Intel doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I guess this shouldn't be much of a surprise, the company is pretty big. It seems like the company is just falling apart, as far as high level decision making goes. They are doing things that are contrary to their own best interests, and also contrary to things that other parts of the company are doing.

Intel will be forced to support DDR over Rambus, but they are showing up late for the party. Their screw up has given AMD a wonderful head start into the first half of next year, in my opinion. Right now, with this weekend's news, I am almost delirious with relief regarding AMD's future. (It's my intention to hold until early to mid next year.)
