Question to posters: I also find myself also unwilling to pay for things at Discovery I don't need or want. I am now currently shopping for a new broker. I'm impressed with Brown & Co if for nothing more than their candor. They also appear to allow you to borrow ( write a check ) against the account's margin balance. Discovery did not and kicked back one of my checks after clearing out all my cash after a margin purchase. I would appreciate any feedback on other brokers who allow it.
