bluediamond, regarding sensitivity

sensitivity is for an adjunct device becuase it is designed to follow a mammogram and find the malignancies among all the false positives. this is where cti is 96% sensitive (accurate).

specificity means that it picks up lots of positives (often false) much like a mammogram. the cti machine will be tested as a screening device (like a mammogram)once we are approved as an adjunct.

rumor has it that by slightly tweaking the system it can be switched from being a SENSITIVE to a SPECIFIC device and used for generalized screening. this could require many more clinical patients than the adjunctive trials.

my assumption is that a woman could eventually have two cti scans, one specific (as a general scan) and then follow this with a "sensitive" scan (like the one going thru FDA trials now) to differentiate malignant from benign findings. i am not certain if it can be BOTH at the SAME time.
