the losers are the old time companies like IBM, CPQ, HWP, Packard Bell, the designated losers because their business model is obsolete.

I think that statement is absurd. Packard-Bell lost out because they had poor management, a poor product and no differentiation in the PC space. But the other companies, along with SUNW, work in a different space than DELL, in an area that is likely to grow more quickly than the segment DELL is currently in.

DELL re-defined the economics of the volume PC business, and is rightfully reaping the benefits of their innovative business model. But that model does not have anything to do with the high end IT business.

You are the one who is out of step.
