AJ - Re: " Did Jerry say that there was a delay ?
I thought he said that everything was ramping quite nicely and that everything was on schedule for volume production in 2Q 00 with revenue
shipments to start in 2nd half 00."

The above comment was made in mid-October.

Here's what Sanders told ALL YOU SHAREHOLDERS in his SHAREHOLDERS speech in April of this year (You all WENT to the MEETING, didn't YOU ?)

{======================================}
1999 Annual Shareholders' Meeting
New York, New York
April 29, 1999

"Meanwhile we must bring a new megafab in Dresden - Fab 30 - on line to build the most sophisticated product in our history employing the most advanced technology we have ever developed. We plan to commence the migration of AMD K-7 production to Fab 30, employing 180-nanometer technology with copper interconnects, next quarter. We believe this technology will enable production versions of the AMD K-7 running at clock speeds of one gigahertz or more by the end of next year. "

{===========================}

Now, "NEXT quarter" would Q399 - since this speech was given EARLY in Q299 !!!

Did Jerry ANNOUNCE a DELAY ?

No - he just SLIPPED the PRODUCTION DATE by about 9 or 12 months !!!!

And of course, the ever vigilent pea-brained analysts never caught the STEALTH DELAY !

"a"j,

Re: " ... on schedule for volume production in 2Q 00 with revenue shipments

I believe that previously, AMD stated that production of Copper K7's
would begin in Q4 '99 at Dresden ... Looks to me like a 6 - 9 month
slip. I have warned about Copper process problems (particularly yield)
for the past year.

Make It So,
Yousef
