Jim - get a grip here.
It seems unlikely that CPQ will continue to be viable in the corporate PC market with results like those reported this quarter. They are worse off than IBM.

CPQ made over $500M this year on PCs, even counting the 3Q loss. IBM LOST a billion dollars. CPQ is the #1 vendor worldwide, and on an annualized basis will still be #1 in the US market. IBM is a weak #4 or #5. How do you figure CPQ is weaker than IBM?

I don't happen to believe that wishful thinking is a particularly good analysis tool.

You must be aware that DELL is pushing up into the Enterprise market with its new 8-way servers and its Storage Systems products.

I am intimately aware that DELL got screwed by Intel on the 8-way launch thanks to the sabre motherboard flaw. Likewise, they got screwed by EMC when DG got bought. Both of those areas are WAY below plan.

I happen to believe that the areas you mention were among DELL's few execution failures this year.
