I believe that you predate pauL by about six months. Despite some early strong criticism I may have had for you, I have grown to have a genuine respect for your contributions and I seldom fail to read any of your posts.

Genuine regards,

DARBES

Burt,

Re:"so, forget that we invest in competitors. I value the conversation, even when it gets too raucus. I hope you do too."

Well said.

I would also prefer some kind of a truce.

All the name calling and personal attacks are getting really old and take way too much time to wade thru.

So come on everyone we are all adults and the vast majority of us are intelligent, thoughtfull and sucessfull folks.

Lets see if we can keep it clean and painless.

regards,

Kash

Burt, great post.

We all argue. But don't try to shut down people. A clear pond can't raise fish. Meaning: no fun. I feel it worth my money to be on this thread. AMD has 90% of my money. No position in INTC. But I have tremendous respect for INTC since I used 8088 a while ago. AMD has great potential. But AMD meeds to put its act together in a consistent manner. AMD is not in the INTC's ball park yet.

I don't like Paul et al personally. But they make The Topic more interesting and meaningful. I dare to say that if Paul et al gone, Chuck et al will be bored. The thread will be boring. If one can throw his hard-earned money in the Street, he should be tough and mature enough to live with the guys at the other side of the Street.

Burt,
RE:"I'm not sure but I think that I might even predate Paul on this thread.
When I got on it, there was a guy named Jack Raines, I think, who was
both a long term investor in Intel and a day trader in Intel. He would post
in the morning, before the market opened what he would do if the price
did, he would say how far he would ride it and what his getout price
would be. Both up and down. And he was good. Real good. I was new
to that kind of stuffed and loved to learn how a successful day trader
worked. I think this was back in 1996 and I think that he had been on a
prodigy thread with Paul and some of the other Intel longs before here.
The bottom line is that he was maligned viciously, and I mean the whole
nine yards, by some AMD hazers on this thread, to the point where he
said, basically, I don't need this, and permanently left. "...

I should probably respond privately but because you maligned this thread, I'll respond publically.
First of all, Jack Rains is a friend of mine, from many years on Prodigy. He's still on Prodigy Internet BBs where he runs a thread called Intel bounce. To my knowledge, Paul was never on Prodigy.
Both Paul and I predate Jack on SI and I don't think Jack ever posted on the AMD thread...
He did post for a while on the Intel thread where he was constantly attacked by long term holders of INTEL! You know, the type that are long term holders of the holy grail and darn smug about it. The constant badgering caused him to leave. Particularly that of ex-Prodigy member, IBEXX. We know her real name and when Jack mentioned it...well...to put it mildly... There were also other Intel members that participated as well. You can probably guess who they were...but I won't mention any more names but it wasn't AMD people at all. It was the Intel long term holders, I know because Jack told me.
If you wish I can give you a URL where Jack posts daily. Same stuff...

Regards, Jim
