Wait a minute, let me get this right: you made your first investment in Q the day of the big earnings announcement, and picked up a 55 point gain within 24 hours of getting in? Harrumph harrumph...and people accuse me of bragging...

Nice timing Apollo. Don't get too jealous Tekboy, your day is coming....

I wanted to change the tune a little bit to provide some information with regards to the new addition to the G&K Index - Siebel Systems that is. This is from The Motley Fool:

Siebel Systems came in Number 1 in our stock screen for Relative Strength at the Foolish Workshop for the week of October 22, 1999 at: fool.com

The stock also is listed as #10 on the Peg 5 and Sparks 5 screens, tied for #3 on the Beta Screen, it's #2 on the Formula 90 screen, #2 on IBD Relative Strength Screen, and # 2 on our Unemotional Growth screen.

Here is a link that will explain each screen: fool.com

In addition to the flurry of activity in the stock that took place once it was mentioned here, it is clear that the last two quarters for Siebel have lined up the stars for it in quite a positive fashion. Friday's close was an all time closing high on triple the average volume. Plenty of radar screens seem to be locating this primate.

Ah, c'mon Tekkie.......my good fortune on that one day was unique, and related entirely to luck, not skill. Also, my post exposed my sensational ignorance in investing a very large sum of $ into a company without knowing the fundamentals for 6 months. Think about it, 6 months of dead money.....imagine what that would have done if I had invested it in almost anything else on this thread. Yes, the only bragging from that post was one of stupidity.

Besides, I shared that story so I could justify the last line in my post, about not 'dicking around' trying to time the Q. In the heady academic atmosphere of Boston, I never get to use that expression, which harkens to the time I grew up in my Dad's pool hall as a teenager. Not only did we gamble alot shooting pool and playing poker, but......remember those gumball machines with the colored gumballs you could get for a penny? We used to bet on what color gumball would come out.

Nowadays, I suppress these gambling instincts honed from childhood, and can readily see how they might evolve into.....MO-MO tendencies in investing. <vbg>
