Re: Someone told me a 128k stick of Rambus is going to cost $700 out of the chute. I thought they might be exaggerating. Anyone heard anything?

Here are IBM's prices, these are only the slow parts though, not as fast as PC100. I wonder how much it will cost for rambus that is competitive in performance?

64MB 600MHz ECC 4D RDRAM RIMM Memory $440.22
128MB 600MHz ECC 8D RDRAM RIMM Memory $815.22
256MB 600MHz ECC 16D RDRAM RIMM Memory $1,521.74

Still, this is less than double what IBM charges for
64MB 100MHz ECC SDRAM DIMM Memory $219.00
128MB 100MHz ECC SDRAM DIMM Memory $469.00
256MB 133MHz ECC SDRAM RDIMM Memory $826.09

so it's no worse than expected.

Dan

McPanicsville - Re: "Someone told me a 128k stick of Rambus is going to cost $700 "

128k ?

As in 128 kilobits?

or do you mean KiloBYTES ?

128 KiloBYTES for $700 ???

Sure, McFUDDD.

I'll bet 128 KiloBytes of RAMBUS MEMORY doesn't cost over $5.00 - if you can get it that small.
