Eddie, I was at Sam Houston last night. The parking lot was full (when I arrived, empty by the time the last race was run) and we had about 50 people in the Grandstand. <g> But you are wrong about the bankruptcy bit. The park makes nearly all of its money from people at other tracks simulcasting our races (about 90% of the take each day). So, as long as they remain open in the winter and at night, when there is little competition for the simulcast bettors, they have a profitable niche. And the track reflects that fact of life. They do zilch to make the at-the-track experience a pleasant one, when just a little effort would double their attendance overnight.
