RE:"Those companies that are
crowing about having a board that is better than RAMBUS, it appears,
have for the moment built a better RAMBUS board and called it
something else and INTC is going after them with a vengeance and their
customers as well."...

What companies are you refering to that make these RAMBUS boards and are calling them something else? I was refering to VIAs 133 Mhz chipset. I don't think it runs RAMBUS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe I refered to AMDs lack of "production"....

The DOW obviously would be a lot higher if Intel had been in it for 10 years. Shoot, it would be a lot higher if they hadn't removed IBM for a while before putting it back.

Re: INTC is introducing 15 new chips...

15 versions of one new chip

>>>AMD has a tough time producing to the top end spec...

Ever actually seen a machine other than an AMD that runs faster than 600MHZ?

>>>Compare the R&D budgets of the respective cos...

See note above for results of the R&D. I'll grant you that Intel has spent
a lot more money on R&D than AMD, but the goal is creating new products, not
getting rid of cash.

>>>Concerning RAMBUS the little more speed as you call it...

Even Intel has given up on Rambus. Its performance is almost equal to PC133's,
isn't anywhere near the performance of DDR, and now that we're finally getting
to see some pricing on it, it appears that it will cost quite a bit more
than twice as much as either. The best way to increase the performance of your
system's memory is to get more of it. Rambus is no benefit.

>>>>INTC should have been added to the DOW 10 yrs. ago.

No argument here.
