Dear Mel: Portland!! Last year my wife and I drove all over the nation 18,000 miles to find a place to move too that surpassed Fla. One of the 3 we liked was Grant's Pass Oregon. Would have seriously considered moving there until we learned that Oregon has a 9 1/2% state income tax (we have none). Since I am retired and rely on investment income that was too much for me to give away to the state govt. So have had to shelf the plan. I realize Oregon doesnt have a Sales tax but that tax is somewhat controllable. I am amazed the citizens allowed that tax to exist. Not even any exemption that I am aware of for investment income.
As to your Mom, I dont know what else to say. If you or she belong to Aarp you might call them to see if they have the bubble pak in their pharmacy. After Costco I have found the AARP pharmacy the next cheapest (I hate to use the word cheap in discussing drugs as none are in this country). JDN
