The good news: Intel investors, IMHO,
enjoy BOTH excellent marketing & superior product(s).

As for marketing the Company itself,
IR improvements, like chicken soup, wouldn't hurt.

Interesting list. Betamax, Apple, 68000, and non-Japan Inc were all more expensive than the "superior" alternative. The market went for lower cost in every case. I don't think OS2 or the mainframes were straightforward substitutions (though OS2 was also more expensive until after it was a lost cause)

I hate to say it, but superior marketing, or the just plain monster, 800 lb. gorilla company won out in all of these cases."

Hi Tony, MS was tiny when this battle started, while IBM had a headcount of how large (I'll take a guess, maybe 100,000)? MS definitely did not win on size and wasn't a 800-lb Gorilla back then. A relatively small group, while IBM was humongous. Hope you had a Happy Halloween. Regards, Amy J
