Bdog, I'm kinda in table pounding mode on the market here so bear with me. Just as the implementation of NAFTA and GATT was a huge wake-up call to at least hedge against the possibility of "employment flight" to Mexico and the East by at least starting some kind of strategy of going long in stocks, the inclusion of INTC and MSFT into the DJIA is a wake-up call to accelerate that strategy. If avg vol on the NYSE notches up 10% from the Oct '98 to Sept '99 avg. levels going into the period starting Oct '99 to Feb 2000...you'll see the real move and by the end of Feb it'll be short-term profit taking time (short term meaning actual short term...3 to 6 months...NOT the 3 to 6 day definition of short term that would allow one to claim a casual mistake). All the talk about overvaluation and "mania" stemming from the high of 11,438 comes from a dire lack of proper perspective. We ain't seen nuthin yet. Of course...if I were to go into MDA thread mode (ack) I'd also say..."But there's also the possibility that the market could go sideways or down too." .....NOT Doug R
