One webletter's opinion:
beatingwallstreet.com

Knight/Trimark (NITE)
The biggest market maker in NASDAQ stocks is growing at 200% and with the continued volume in Internet stocks the company is going to keep growing. The company is expected to only grow at 25% next year but I believe that the growth rate is too low. There are still many companies waiting to go public and as they do, one of the stock's market makers will be Knight/Trimark. The recent deal with Merril Lynch which will add to the comapany's revenues, but I beleive that this deal opens the door to a friendly buyout of the company as Merril needs to expand in the financial sector to make up for the Interent competition. NITE handled more than 5X as much volume as the AMEX did in 1998 and it is expected that the figure will be even bigger this year. The stock has seen a boost in its share price since last year but it is down 50% from its high giving the stock room to move higher. The stock could reach $100 by Feburary 2000 as the market will take interest in the stock once again.

A post from Raging Bull. You have to admire the enthusiasm. And, while anything could happen Monday (up, down or sideways), the series of positive events noted by the poster ain't bad:

Oh boy is this GREAT! On Friday the NASDAQ hit an all time high on record breaking volume and NITE gained close to 6%. After the close CNBC airs an extremely positive feature story on Knight. On Sunday the Washington Post prints an article speculating that Knight could be a takeover target.

It can't get much better than this. Looks like NITE is going to fly.

Donny: The real question is not where we open, but where we close. Do the shorts hit the stock mid-day as has been the recent history, as the opening surges are met with relentless selling, or do the shorts begin to cover after relentless buying makes it unprofitable to short this stock anymore? We'll know soon enough.
