Yes, WebMD and another one, Healthgate, are listed as competitors on medsite's hoovers page, along with Medscape - hoovers.com
... there's another i tripped across, ticker is maii - todito.com

There are lots more medical sites [i've posted lists on the medsite thread].
But - they're not all competitors ... they don't all provide the same services and the majority seem to target the public, not the medical professional community. Still, you're right of course - there's major risk here, it's likely something like the auto industry in the early part of the century, there were hundreds of makes. I talked a lot years ago with an old guy south of Montréal who worked at times for both of the two auto makers in his quite-small town ... and when i met him his pickup was a Ford or a Chev or a Dodge, one of the three. But there's reward as well, for the winners, eh ... trick is to pick them -g-

>>>MSCP Comparables: One other came to mind - WebMD. But apparently this has not IPO'd yet. MSFT bought a big chunk of the company and the IPO was scrapped. I don't see where it's come to market yet. Its symbol was to be WBMD.<<<

HLTH bought out WebMD.
