From ars-technica this morning:

Well, I'd never!
Thought I'd hit on a few tidbits I picked up over at The Register recently (who BTW has apparently sold their souls to Compaq for "One Week Only!"). First up, they've admitted that they were wrong (big shocker!) about Willamette's release being targeted for the end of this year. Now they're saying 2H '00... small difference, huh. Next up, they're reporting what we're all starting to see, namely that Intel is short on Coppermine love. The Reggie's spin is that Intel must have made the big release announcement of the Coppermine CPU's just to make AMD's Athlon look bad. I'd call it a case of putting the carrot before the proverbial OEM donkey. For those of you waiting on Coppermine (esp. the FC-PGA variety), they're saying early '00 at best. I'd agree there. -Loki
