Ashanti Goldfields says reaches gold hedging agreement
London--Nov 1--Ashanti Goldfields, the UK-listed Ghanaian mining group,
today said it has reached an agreement with its gold hedging counter-parties
that gives it a long-term exemption from the obligation to post collateral
against margin calls on hedging contracts. In return, Ashanti will issue the
counter-parties with warrants that convert indirectly into Ashanti ordinary
shares of no par value. (Story .11218)

Europe Precious Metals Review: Spot gold steadies above $292
London--Nov 1--Gold prices managed to stay above the $290 per ounce level
this morning, albeit in thin trade, having fallen lower overnight on the back of
selling out of Australia. Sources said spot gold was expected to remain
supported above $290, as dips below that level "are widely viewed as good buying
opportunities," one trader said. Silver remained quiet around $5.20. (Story
