if the japanese are targeting NOK MOT markets then software value added must be the key

since each vendor will have their own priorities/strategy i suspect that they will be making their own software or buying startups that are 'cost effective'

(deliberate jab at pump.com valuation+software)

the chinese are the wildcard
there are a number of second/third tier switch vendors doing considerable business in china, it maybe a 'reverse' joint venture with new chinese contracts contigent on cross licensing of technology for sales back into non competing US markets

MSFT may do well strictly because of their GUI experience/brand name
