Expanding Single Sign-On's Application Support Increases Ability to Provide
Secure, Easy Access to Multiple Network Applications

PROVO, Utah, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Novell, Inc. (Nasdaq: NOVL) today announced the availability of five new application connectors for Novell(R) Single Sign-on -- a directory-based software solution that simplifies the end-user computing experience by eliminating the need for users to remember and input multiple passwords. The new application connectors -- using a single, existing Novell Directory Services(R) (NDS(R)) password -- allow users to log in to the computer network only once across multiple platforms.

Application connectors for Novell Single Sign-on can be downloaded free of charge from Novell's Web site at www.novell.com/products/sso. Connectors are now available for the following products:

* PeopleSoft 7.x
* Vantive versions 6, 7 and 8
* Novell Client for Windows NT
* Novell SQL Integrator
* Novell GroupWise(R) 5.5 Enhancement Pack

According to a Network Application Consortium study, 70 percent of all password reset helpdesk calls are related to forgotten passwords, and the average user spends more than 44 hours per year logging into multiple applications. Novell's multi-platform Single Sign-on solution solves these password problems efficiently and securely, reducing the costly and time-consuming task that all companies incur for password management and password-related calls to their helpdesks.

"Password management challenges are something nearly every company can relate to," said Samm DiStasio, director of marketing for Novell. "By continuing to enable additional applications, we are extending the time and cost-saving benefits of Single Sign-on to an increasing number of users and administrators -- and Novell will continue enabling other applications at an aggressive rate."
