Re:and WILL NOT continue going forward

Hmmm... this will reverse a 40 year trend toward lower component costs---if what you say is true. Moreover,
it will not benefit any of the other manufacturers as they
will also have to pay the higher component costs.

The DRAM pricing problem was compounded by the problems with the RDRAM chipset from INTC which was due out in October. Also, sales were higher than IDC or Dataquest projected last quarter.

There is plenty of spare capacity available for expanding
DRAM production. The correction of the RDRAM problem should release a lot of RDRAM chips onto the market that have to now be held in inventory and this should further reduce pressure on the DRAM market.

So I do not think that your scenario plays out as any thing more than a hiccup in the market.

Re:.DRAMS DO NOT COME FROM TAIWAN.

In checking out this latest Dell story about DRAM prices possibly affecting margins this quarter, I discovered that approximately 10% of the total DRAM comes from Taiwan. Is this incorrect?

Thanks for your post. If you have a chart showing DRAM spot pricing, could you please post a link to that?
