Image Entertainment, Heading for Comeback Trail?
Updated: 13:40 et. Nov 01, 1999

Most retailers have underestimated the demand for DVDs and have sold out their inventory. DVD players out sold VCRs 12 fold on the initial launch and these numbers may continue multiplying.

Estimates are that the retail DVD movie market alone will total $13 billion annually within the next five years. The major studios are convinced that DVD is here to stay and are fueling industry growth by cranking out new movies, games and software titles on the medium. DVDs can also be played on personal computers through DVD-ROM drives.

Image Entertainment ( Nasdaq: DISK ) is one of the largest distributors of DVDs to the top e-tailers and retailers. Amazon.com, DVDExpress, NetFlix, Reel.com, Musicland, Best Buy, Tower and wherehouse are a few who continue to purchase DVD titles from Image Entertainment to meet the consumer demand.

Image Entertainment's November ‘99 releases include a wide range of variety from Playboy's Best-of-3 pack DVD box set with Jenny McCarthy, Anna Nicole Smith, Pamela Anderson to Roy Orbison , Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, T-Bone , k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen.
