I wonder what details could be accessed regarding the bullet wounds and other forensic evidence from the autopsies. Much can be learned from careful investigation that can help to reconstruct the sequence of events, and that can shed light on the motives. For example:

How much time elapsed from the leg to head wounds? If the leg wound preceded the other by more than a brief interval (a couple of minutes, perhaps) the bloodstream would contain histamines and other "stress-injected" substances. The time lapse can be approximated from concentrations and distribution of these substances, giving a sense of whether or not interrogations took place, and for how long.

Were all bullet entry points from the front? In other words, did a leg wound bring down a victim scrambling to get away, or was it deliberate as part of the questioning?

What angle of entry did the leg wound have -- i.e. was the victim seated or standing?

I would expect that the temple shot took place before the other's head wounds -- it sounds like something done for dramatic effect to impress the other victim.

The professionalism of the hit can also be guessed at by bullet entry angles, or at least the stance of the gunman can be speculated upon. Was it a gun-high enraged amateur or a more casual assassin to whom such weapons are merely tools of the trade?

Were BOTH phones shot? This is interesting -- it would have been easier to take them (and it would have made a cell phone connection much less obvious -- that part the investigation could conceivably have been overlooked entirely). As it is, the damaged phones scream "Check my records, please!". I presume that these were on the floor when shot as opposed to accidentally while being held by the victims.

The team here is impressive indeed -- you folks are doing a fabulous job.
