What is even worse, the bright statisticians over at Handgun Control include defensive uses of guns in some of their crime statistics. In one study I looked at, they used the number of gunshot victims that entered a hospital as a representation of gun crime, not subtracting out the number that were shot in self defense. And all their statistics include crimes for non-felon, legal gun owners, who are cited or arrested for illegal concealement, and transporting a gun across state lines. Laws which are often arcane, and rarely understood by the population at large. If they can't find criminals with guns, they'll make us criminals for their statistics.
