1. VIA emphasize Athlon chipsets
2. AMD open a motherboard factory

"I agree" - it was just a joke - if Via is forced to stop making Apollo133 chipsets, it'd be like Intel shafting its own customers - Micron, IBM, (Dell?) etc. It'd also force Via to focus on Athlon chipsets. Instead of depending on other chipset manufacturers, AMD should increase its resources on in-house Athlon chipset designs to facilitate high performance Athlon Systems. With its own chipset designs, AMD would also be in a position to drive certain standards to harness Athlon power.

IMHO, if the motherboard situation doesn't improve by the end of this quarter (we would have a better picture by the end of this month), as it was suggested on this board, AMD should acquire a motherboard outfit and should get into mobo business ASAP.
