Here's one for the "new era" crowd to ponder. It comes from an article in the "Australian Financial Review".

"The US economy is in its ninth year of expansion, which
will break the 1960s record of 106 months of consecutive
growth next February. But growth during this expansion
has been weaker than in others, averaging 3.5 per cent
compared to 4.3 per cent during the 1980s boom and 4.8
per cent during the 1960s."

We know it's a lot slower than in the last "new era" during the 20s. In fact, I think its slower than the 50s too. Fortunately, we did beat the 30s. (g)
