Regarding Gemstar: We can see the Tornado forming, but it's probably a few quarters out. ... I think you made a good buy, though 6-9 months too early by GG standards.
I made the same error <g>.

Frank and all,

If Gemstar's product is part enabling and part applications as I've suggested, the applications aspect justifies a pre-tornado investment. Does anyone have thoughts about what kind of product (enabling or applications) Gemstar sells?

Got back from NY tonite to 739 posts on the G&K thread. This is a busy bunch!

I was in the Green room at ABC, ready to on Good Morning America, when they cancelled the segment! Had a ball, though, at the Competition, (took third in the Blues Division).

Weel, our runup on earnings on Q has got us a new high, but not as high as I figured. Lets see what happens tomorrow!

As I see it, GMST had everyone by the shorts. They own all the intellectual rights for the IPG technology, so if anyone wants to do business in that market, they must come to GMST. AOL couldn't get around it. TVGIA is either merging with them or will sign a licensing agreement if the merger isnt approved. What makes you think anyone else will slip by them? I think they even get $10 for every 1000 hits on the rotating ads when you call up the program guide and considering the amount of TV's out there with this guide and the fact that it will more than likely be the de facto standard on almost all future TV's, you can just hear that cash register (cha-CHING!!) I think we are just seeing the beginnings of a powerhouse.
