It makes no sense to use an 840 and pay for the rambus interface if it's not going to be used. While it may be possible to use SDRAM, the motherboard would have to be layed out that way, it's not like the sockets are jumper selectable or something. Besides, who'd buy it? The budget consious will stick with the 440bx or equivalent while the power users will want Rambus.
