You know, that is the old "principles" argument that I never quite got. It could be that the west coast is disconnected from the east on this matter too, and since I have no visibility elsewhere I can't see it. But in our case out here we had two contenders for gov... a somewhat wishy middle of the roader (Davis - who Zoltan calls the mashed potato sandwich) vs. Mr. principles Dan Lundgren. In fact principles were a part of Lundgrens campaign, he said he had to vote for what he thought was right, he was a Catholic, etc. The republicans thought anybody could win against Davis. But Davis killed Lundgren because (imo) Lundgren had the wrong principles - yeah sure he had principles, but they were the wrong ones and in that case people want moderation. This preoccupation with principles and denial as to what really wins is bad leadership out here. And when I say bad leadership - I mean BAD!! lol.
