Apparently there will be a FIC SD-13 4 layer Athlon motherboard announced at Comdex. This should lower Athlon motherboard prices.

As it stands Intels lawsuit against VIA appears bogus at best...It reeks lack of due process, IMHO.
If Intel was serious they would.
1. Sue VIA
2. Sue any motherboard maker that uses it.
3. Block entry of these boards into the US.
4. Sue any boxmaker that uses one of these motherboards.

Of course this means sueing some of their own customers. Various motherboard makers, boxmakers like Micron or IBM. If they selectively sue then it loses much of it's punch..
Just an opinion.

steve, I can see that AMD is indeed immune as they have the Digital bus rights and can run with them. This will act as a check against Intel being overly proprietary. The digital stuff is certainly as fast as what Intel is using, and if the P6 bus uses what came from DEC and now AMD has it too then they may be able to back into a P6 bus by rev eng.
We live in interesting times. The third link you gave was dead.
