My point was that Intel themselves now source BIOS from multiple suppliers, not just from PTEC. I just bought an Intel motherboard with an AMI BIOS.

It is nor a correct or reasonable assumption that if a new market segment opens, that Phoenix will necessarily be the company of choice to service it. Much depends on the sales model for the product, does Intel build it and OEMS badge it, or does it get built in Taiwan and Korea or in the US and Europe.
