Maybe you can't see them, but they're there. <g> QTEK - Float approx 1.4 million. Quintek was founded in July 1991 to license the technology and manufacuring rights to NCR's Q4300 aperture card imaging system. After selling 60 units in 1989, NCR sold it's Micrographics System Division to Micrographic Technology corp., a private company in Mountain View, Calif. Micrographic acquired the technology to pursue microfiche film applications selling microfiche machines around $200,000 to $300,000 to service bureaus and did not restart the Q4300 business. This gave Alpharel, a start up company, the opportunity to acquire a temporary license for the Q4300. At that time Tom Simms was a engineer for Alpharel. Tom and Kurt Kunz formed Quintek to acquire a permanent license from Micrographic. Quintek Technologies has their headquarters in Camarillo, Calif. Ph: 805-383-3904. Their main sales office is in Fairfax, Va. Ph:703-631-2305 They have a manufacturing and engineering facility in Montpelier, Idaho. Large scale manufacturing is contracted to Bofors AD, a company with over one billion in revenues. Quintek's Q4300 is the only chemical free aperture card production system on the market today. It is an automatic, self contained table top system that NCR spent $6.5 million to develop. Quintek has spent another $3.5 million to further develop the technology for a software interface. The Q4300 is protected by 3 US patents. It takes about one half to one third the cost to produce aperture cards with the Q4300 system. Customers include: Lockheed-Martin, Zenith Electronics, Royal Netherlands Army, US Navy, NASA, Calif. Dept. of Transportation and Saudi Aramco, to name a few. They are currently working with Eastman Kodak to develop the Q6300 one of a kind roll film archiving system based on the Q4300 technology. They just released the WebShuttle software for smaller customers to send and retrive information over the internet. The current Aperture card market is estimated at $2.5 billion with about 500,000 cards produced annually. Quintek expects revenues over $4 million in 1999 and to double in the year 2000.
