Duke, The different area code was in reference to Pequannock versus Colt's Neck. Pequannock is in area code 201. Colt's Neck is in area code 908. The problem with a cell phone is that records are kept on all calls. So if your estimate is correct (3 to 5 miles between cells), then the cell phone company would have a record of any calls to any of Chalem's or Lehmann's telephone numbers, as well as date and time, charges and the specific cell(s) that were used. Which area code they were in at the time of the call would make no difference. However, they would have had to use Chalem's area code to reach the house phone. KJC
