Thanks dm, Dan and Carl. This does have immediate relevance to Rambus, I think. (1) If I go for a high-end machine, I shouldn't plan on changing the CPU during the life of the machine; (2) I may need to add to RAM down the road, say in 2 years. (3) If (expensive) DRDRAM is not adding performance in this first iteration, then there seems to be little point in buying it, since the CPU speed will not change. I know Dan3 and Carl will agree with my conclusion. I wonder if everyone agrees? Best, JS
