Michael-- this is the latest price,,

Compaq Computer (CPQ: news, msgs) slipped 1/8 to
19 1/4, according to Madoff. The company was
included in a suit filed in federal courts that accuses a
number of PC manufacturers of selling computers with
faulty floppy-disk drive. Toshiba had agreed Monday to
a $2.1 billion settlement in a similar suit filed by the
same lawyers, reported the Wall Street Journal.
Compaq told the business daily that it would
"vigorously defend" itself.

Finally something I agree with this guy about,,

According to Ashok Kumar, analyst at US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, this is a feature of the
technology landscape, it's not an exception. The technology is so complex and changes so fast
that glitches are bound to wind up in products sold to consumers. Still, Kumar said he expects
the companies targeted by Reaud to put up substantial court fights rather than settling quickly.
Toshiba, the largest laptop company, was the "low-hanging fruit" in such a court case, he said.
Plaintiffs will have a harder time against other vendors. "Toshiba was an exception in that it
was willful in that they did not disclose it to the public, Kumar said. I don't think the same can
be said of the other vendors. Interestingly , IBM and NEC/Packard Bell were originally sued
along with Toshiba. The suit does not appearred to have impacted IBM's stock price.
