One follow-up comment... my assumption is based on a guess that there were more than two bullet holes in the wall.

Another consideration...

Revolvers don't discharge casings unless they were reloaded and the casings were manually removed from the gun...

Assuming that your theory of intimidation is correct, isn't it likely that the gunmen wouldn't take time to reload at the crime scene?

Not so sure. As long as there were two of 'em, taking a minute to reload wouldn't have been a risk. Or they might have brought along more than one gun apiece, though that seems less likely.

Problem is, we don't know even approximately how many shots were fired; only the number that ended up in the victims' bodies.
